forgotten fashions

From Quilts to Clothing

In one period of our quilt-making history, many determined that wearing our quilts on our back was a novel idea.  Hence, for years we reconfigured those traditional patterns into vests, jackets, coats and dresses. It was not unusual to spot a fellow quilt maker on the streets or even while traveling in an airport.

For some odd reason I always planned a special garment for each of my PBS show appearances. No doubt it came from my fashion office work at Marshall Field & Co where I worked right out of college.     -    Georgia Bonesteel
